Collins, CO. 80521 <br />June 15, 1979 <br />Mr. Glenn Schlueter <br />Hogan & Olhausen PC <br />2300 West Eisenhower Blvd. <br />Loveland, CO, 80537 <br />RE: Reclamation of Mining Area, Eugene Brownwood Farm <br />Dear Glenn: <br />The area that is to be mined is presently in irrigated crop (parts <br />of Area ~kl & 2), pasture (Area X63 & south part of Area i12 - more of a <br />livestock holding area in poor vegetative condition), and Area ~k4 is <br />farmstead, junk yard, pasture & corrals, <br />The range site is Overflow, except for the area next to the river <br />and a small area in Area ~k4 thaC is Riverwash. This is in the Western <br />Central High Plains Land Resource Area. Riverwash is self-described as <br />sandy, alluvial and cobbly land subject to frequent changes through <br />stream overflow. Vegetation is thin with cottonwood trees and willows <br />the main species and various grasses & weeds in more favorable spots. <br />Overflow Range Site consist of gently sloping to level soils that <br />are sandy to clay loam alluvial, moderate deep to deep,. The potential <br />vegetation for this site would include switchgrass, western wheatgrass, <br />blue grams, Zndfan grass, side-oats grama and slender wheatgrass, <br />Here are some grasses that have the best chances in the above <br />conditions for reseeding without irrigation. This is assuming that <br />all areas are cover with a minimum of 6 inches of top soil. <br />(Each grass seeding rate is for 100% and a percentage of each can be <br />used in a seeding mixture.) <br />Fairway wheatgrass <br />Pubescent wheatgrass (Luna) <br />Thickspike wheatgrass (Critana) <br />Side-oats grama (Vaughn) <br />switchgrass (Nebr. 28) <br />Western wheat (Barton) <br />Alfalfa (Ladak) <br />(cont.) <br />61k Pure Live Seed/Acre. <br />181k " <br />11~k " " <br />9~k ~~ ~~ ~, ~~ <br />421 ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ <br />164k " <br />Not more than l~k/Acre in <br />any mixture if a legume is <br />wanted. <br />0 <br />
