GEOTECHNICAL ANALYSIS EXHIBIT
This information is presented to address the plan to mine within
200 feet of the structures listed in Exhibit S. This analysis is
presented in leu of obtaining agreements from the owners of the
noted structures. McAtee Construction Company, has committed to
mining slope adjacent to structures at their final slope rate.
Under the approved plan this would be 3:1 from the original land
surface to the mine floor. This leaves a stable slope of
undisturbed gravel adjacent to the structure.
In the case of the buried gasline McAtee will have it
located by the Colorado Call One locate service. Surface
marking on the site at this time indicate that this lines is
nearly 190 feet from the permit boundary and in an ayes where the
gravel depth is 5 feet or less, When the 15 foot setback is
established the gasline will be 205 feet from the mined area.
For the inlet canal the setback will be staked prior to
mining adjacent to the permit line. The plan is to leave the
mine floor level with the toe of the canal dike so no excavation
will take place below this level. From this point mining will
progress to the east leaving a level floor with a final slope
being along the eastern part of the mined area. Figure 1 shows
what is explained above. Section A, shows how the site looks
now; Section B shows the near vertical working face as mining
progresses across the site. In Section C the final slopes are
completed and the floor is graded.
This method of creating slopes leaves a stable slope
requiring no backfilling or other work once complete. Over the
years we have found that the natural angle of repose for most
gravel is approximately 2:1 and since there will be no slope
along the canal no damage can occur to the structure by a slope
failure.
57
