RE~FfvED
EXHIBIT D
MINING PLAN AND TIMETABLE FEB 1 62007
Division of ReGamation,
Mining and Safety
LOCATION
This is an open pit mine located 5.8 miles north northwest
of Sterling Colorado, on County Road 40. To reach the mine from
I-70's Sterling exit take HWY 6 west 1.95 miles to HWY 138, then
northeast thru town 3.3 miles to CR 43.5, north 3.4 miles to CR
40 and west 2.8 miles west to gate. Then north approximately
0.17 miles to the south permit lane, Please refer to EXHIBIr6-
VICINITYMAP for the property configuration and the relationships to
surrounding geological features, The area to be mined lies west
of the North Sterling Reservoir Inlet Canal (NSRI) in an area
surrounded by general agricultural property, This site contains
a series of gravel fingers bound on the east by dryland
agricultural fields and the NSRI canal on the west.
CURRENT CONDITIONS
The area to be mined was picked because of the quality of
the material available and its low wildlife and agricultural
value. There are no trees or shrubs, surface water or structures
on the site. Limited grazing takes place on this site because
the soil types and lack of water limit the growth potential of
the grasses on the site.
MAP EXHIBIT C, shows the outline of the Affected Lands/permit
area, the touching landowners within 200 foot of the facility,
current topography, hydrologic and surface features of the
property. The site is part of a larger parcel of surrounding
land owned by Donald and Robert Bollish. This land is presently
used for agricultural purposes (rangeland) by the landowner and
we have partially mined an 18.00 acres ±, 111 permitted area
(MLRB Permit # M-2004-070). The 111 permit area is incorporated
in this permit to allow for removal of material that was
processed and stockpiled during operation of the 111 permit.
Access to the site is via an existing graveled road running
north from Logan County Road 40 to the mine. This road was
improved per our agreement when the 111 permit area was leased.
It also is used by the canal owners and surrounding property
owners as access to their land north of the mine. The road will
be maintained as needed. Since it is an existing private road it
will remain when reclamation ends and is not included as part of
the permit area. It is currently 20 feet wide and the location
is shown on the map exhibit supplied with this application.
GEOLOGIC SETTING
The material being mined is a terrace deposit of Early
Pleistocene aged, Rocky Flats Alluvium (Qrf). It is deposited on
topographic knobs and noses along a broad terrace that runs
approximately northwest to southeast in this part of the county.
The thickness of the mineral deposit varies from 10 to 55 feet
and averages approximately 30 feet. At rare locations, the
6
