EXHIBIT J -VEGETATIVE INFORMATION
The information in this Section is intended to satisfy the requirements outlined in Section 6.4.10
of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board's Construction Material Rules and Regulations.
(a) Describe present vegetation types including quantitative estimates of cover and height for
the principal species in each life form represented (ie. trees, tall shrubs, low shrubs,
grasses, fortis);
Savage and Savage described the site vegetation in Exhibit H (Wildlife Information) of this
application. The following excerpt is from Exhibit H.
"Four natural vegetation communities within the site can be broadly categorized as
sideslope seep, depression, Swale, and cottonwood riparian corridor....
The sideslope seep consists of a mosaic of hydrophytic vegetation located along a portion
of the slope below the sedondary terrace and the Brighton Ditch. Vegetation is
dominated by three square, curly dock, reed canarygrass, rabbitfootgrass, and meadow
foxtail.
Vegetation within the depression areas consists of cattails, rabbitfootgrass, reed
canarygrass, meadow fescue, meadow foxtail, prickly lettuce, prairie cordgrass, and three
square.
A depression at the west end of the discontinuous Swale consists of a central
monocultural stand of cattails with a fringe of rabbitfootgrass, meadow foxtail, three
square, prickly lettuce, Baltic rush, and horseweed. The Swale is discontinuous as it
continues east toward the South Platte River where it terminates at the earthen levee.
East of the levee vegetation consists of a mosaic of various weedy plant species with very
small inclusions of cattails.
The east boundary of the property is bounded by open cottonwood riparian woodlands
along the South Platte River. The cottonwood riparian woodland consists of an overstory
of plains cottonwoods with an understory of various dry land grasses and weedy species.
The remainder of the site is planted to row crops and hay. Portions of the site are highly
disturbed and consist of weedy plant species."
(b) the relationship of present vegetation types to soils types (or may show on map);
Please refer to the attached applicable sections of the United States Department of
Agriculture Soils Conservation Service's Soil Survey of Adams County Area, Colorado
(Issued October 1974), which describes the vegetation for each soil type denoted on the
attached map.
Aggregate Industries - WCR, Inc.
