• 2.05.3
Timber Storaee Area
The timber storage area, constructed southwest of the mine site facilities, is utilized for general
storage of mine equipment and supplies. The area is located in the NW 1/4 NW 1/4 of Section 25,
T.13.S., R.92.W., 6th P.M. and was constructed starting in 1975, with final grading completed in
June, 1978. Drainage is controlled and directed to a sedimentation pond described later in this
section. Vegetation of fill slopes is in accordance with section 2.05.4, Reclamation General
Requirements.
Train Loadout Area
During the summer of 1981, a truck scale and scale house were constructed northwest of the truck
dumping station at the west end of the train load-out area (see Map 8-3) so that incoming coal
trucks could be weighed. In addition, an access ramp was constructed from state Highway 133 to
the scales and to the truck dump area. Topsoil was excavated for the scales, and the access road
and scale house were constructed. Drainage from the area is directed to the railroad [rack drainage
and flows downgrade to the train load-out pond.
During [he last half of 2000 the entrance to the truck scale was improved. The haul road was
widened so trucks can bypass the scales to the south and east and proceed to the truck dump
• without crossing the scales. Topsoil was excavated from the new disturbed area and stockpiled in
the area shown on Map 8-3.
West of the Train Load-out azea, there exists a coal stockpile storage area. This stockpile area was
approved in a previous permit as an emergency stockpile and in the existing permit as a permanent
stockpile by the office of Surface Mining and the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division.
The area will only be used as necessary.
Stoker Coal Screenine
The stockpile area west of the train load-out area is also an approved site for the operation of a
portable stoker coal screening plant. Two-inch plus material and coal fines are separated from the
stoker coal product which falls onto a radial arm stacker belt and is stockpiled until shipment.
Also approved are azeas west of the crushing and screening building at the crushing and screening
level and at the truck dump area.
•
- 25 - 7/00
i ~-33
p, PPRovt.p $r3~ foo
