TffiS GENERAL DESCRIPTION SHALL
INCLUDE, AT A MINIMUM, THE FOLLOWING:
(1) PRODUCTION METHODS AND EQUIPMENT. A NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION
OF THE TYPE AND METHOD OF COAL MINING PROCEDURES,
ENGINEERING TECHNIQUES, ANTICIPATED ANNUAL AND TOTAL
PRODUCTION OF COAL, BY TONNAGE, AND THE MAJOR EQUIPMENT TO
BE USED FOR ALL ASPECTS OF THOSE OPERATIONS AND A
DESCRIPTION OF THE MEASURES TO BE USED TO MAXIlVIIZE THE USE
AND CONSERVATION OF THE COAL RESOURCE AS REQUIItED IN 4.01.1.
Mining ceased at the Bowie No. 1 Mine on December 4, 1997. No production is scheduled from
the mine during 1999. There is one reserve block at the Bowie No. 1 Mine that may still be
recovered. This reserve block is referred to as the east pod and is located between the portals of
the Bowie No. 1 Mine and Bowie No. 2 Mine. Bowie Resources Limited intends to access this
block of coal from its Bowie No. 2 Mme. This access depends on obtaining the Iron Point
Federal wal lease. Until Bowie Resources Limited obtains the Iron Point Federal coal lease it will
continue to maintain the Bowie No. 1 Mine in an idle but ready to mine status.
The following discussion provides a historical perspective of the mining that has occurred at the
~- East and West Mines.
TR-032 - 1 - 9/99
~S~oa
