A DETAILED NARRATIVE DESCRII'TION AND
APPROPRIATE MAP(S) PREPARED IN ACCORDANCE WITH 2.10, DESCRIIiING
THE LAND TO BE AFFECTED WITHIN THE PERMTT AREA ACCORDING TO THE
PROPOSED SEQUENCE OF MINING AND RECLAMATION. EACH NARRATIVE
AND/OR MAP SHALL INCLUDE A DETAII.ED TIMETABLE SUFFICIENT TO
DESCRIBE THE VARIOUS MINING PHASES PROPOSED BY THE APPLICANT.
THE MAXIMUM ACREAGE PROPOSED FOR EACH PHASE OF THE OPERATIONS
WITHIN THE PERMIT AREA MUST BE SPECIFIED.
Not applicable.
(b) UNDERGROUND MINING. A DETAILED NARRATIVE AND
APPROPRLATE MAP(S) PREPARED ACCORDING TO THE STANDARDS OF 2.10,
SUFFICIENT TO DESCRIBE ALL PROPOSED SURFACE DISTURBANCES TO BE
ASSOCIATED WITH THE UNDERGROUND MINING ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE
PERMIT AREA. EACH OPERATION PLAN SHALL INCLUDE A NARRATIVE,
CROSS-SECTIONS, MAP(S) AND TIIKETABLE(S) SUFFICIENT TO DESCRIBE THE
• AREAL EXTENT OF THE PROPOSED UNDERGROUND WORIQNGS AND THE
STRATUM TO BE AFFECTED.
The East Mine is an existing, previously permitted mine. Because of the mine fire of June 1,
1986, construction of the West mine was necessary. The specifics on the facilities constructed are
presented in Section 2.05.3(3)(a).
4ientilation Shafts
One ventilation shaft was constructed at a site approximately 230 ft. north of the West Mine
200,000 gallon water tank. A specific description of this ventilation shaft site follows the general
description below.
Once a shaft is no longer used, reclamation of the site will begin. All structures will be removed
from the site and disposed at the Delta County landfill. The shaft will then be backfilled with the
best available material to a level so the concrete pad and collar can be removed safely or sealed as
shown on Figure 2.05-6 in the Final Abandonment Appendix in Volume 6A. The shaft will then
be backfilled to the approximate original contour of the site and topsoil redistributed. A
permanent seed mixture would then be placed.
As described above, the ventilation shaft, located approximately 230 ft. north of the West Mine
200,000 gallon water tank, was raise bored to a diameter of approximately 14 ft. (see Map 8-7).
Gob from the shaft development was disposed in underground gob rooms developed in the South
III Sub-mains. A concrete collar was constructed and a pilot hole drilled at the shaft site. The
TR-3Z - 11 - 9/99
2/S/o0
