• 2.05.3(7) Coal Handling Structures
A preparation plant, unit train loadoui facility, and an overland belt conveyor are
located within the permit area. Exhibits 6A, 7A, 8A, 10A and 11A show the
locations of coal handling and storage facilities. Table 12-1, Tab Section 12, lists
all coal handling and storage facilities within the permit area. Surface
disturbance created by these facilities is minimized. Refer to Tab Section 14 for
details on removal of structures no reclamation of the disturbed area.
2.05.3(8) Coal Mine Waste and Non-Coal Processing Waste
Before January, 1981, coal processing waste was disposed of at Roadside
Refuse Disposal Area RSRDA, located at the Roadside South Portals. This area
is no longer used for coal processing waste disposal. Stability analysis of the
RSRDA is given in Appendix 13-4. Final regrading of this pile is discussed in
Tab Section 14.

Disposal Area Nos. 1 and 2 (CRDA-1 &CRDA-2). A third site, CRDA-3, has
been permitted but will not be developed because the Operator does not plan to
construct CRDA-3 since the mine is idle and is not expected to operate in the
foreseeable future.. Details for construction and sediment control at CRDA-1 are
given on Exhibits 9A, 9B, 18 and 20. Details of the CRDA-2 & 3 construction
and sediment control were approved in 1985 as permit revision PRO1 and are
shown on Exhibits 51, 52 and 53. The coal processing waste originates at the
Roadside South coal preparation facility and from the Roadside North screening
and crushing facility. The waste material is hauled by truck to the refuse
disposal areas where it is spread in maximum lifts of 24 inches and compacted.
Once the piles are constructed to the contours shown in Exhibits 9C, 51 and 52,
reclamation will take place as described in Tab Section 14. Drainage design is
given in Appendix 13-2. Soil information is given in Appendices 9-4 and 9-5, Tab
Section 9. Cultural Resource information is given in Appendices 5-4 thru 5-7,
