Run-off from the portal and office shop complex flows across the parking lot to
one of three grated drains along the west edge of the portal bench. There are
two 6-inch diameter drains and one 4-inch diameter. The two six inch drains
combine into a single six inch pipe at the base of the retaining wall. Flow from
the single 6-inch pipe is routed over the steep slope below the retaining wall in a
six inch flexible ADS pipe.
Flow from the 4-inch grated drain and the 4 inch drain pipe near the shop join
below the retaining wall. The combined flow in the 4-inch pipe is routed over the
steep slope below the retaining wall in a 6-inch culvert/flexible ADS pipe.
A 6 inch diameter culvert/flexible pipe below the retaining wall collects drainage
from a small upland area, portions of Light Use Road No. 1 and a portion of the
top of the RSRDA. There is a low spot on the top of the RSRDA that does not
flow to the above mentioned pipe. A 6 inch diameter flexible pile will be utilized
to collect water from this low spot and convey the water down to the top terrace
drain.
During 2002 an upper diversion ditch was installed to divert runoff around
RSRDA. Pond 9 collects run-off from this diversion ditch. Runoff from portions
of the lower west face of the pile are directed to the Pond 9 by a ditch along the
toe of the pile.
Ute Water Conservancy District installed a water supply pipe line from their plant
located in Section 2, T11 S, R98W to Island Acres State Park which is located in
Section 26, T10S, R98W in 1991. Of the routes investigated, their preference
was to install the line in a northwesterly direction to Interstate 70 and follow the
highway from there. The line was installed along this route which crosses the
Roadside refuse pile skirting the south side. See Exhibit 6A & 66 for the location
where the line crosses the refuse pile.
13-12 (Rev. 09/04)
