All of the bore holes and test pits were taken to a depth where
we found the underlying shale layer. The excavation plan does not show any
excavation deeper than any of the bore holes or test pits. In all of the bore holes and
test pits, we did not encounter any ground water.
2. We have attached a drawing of the location of an existing artesian well. City records
indicate that this well has been in existence since before 1911. We can find no
record of any well permit or water right associated with this well. The existing well is
located in an area that is approximately 40 feet east of the planned excavation.
Neither the well nor the small drainage channel that the well drains into will be
disturbed by the planned excavation. The plans clearly show that the drainage area is
to be protected. The existing well was measured by the City in 1982 and found to be
575 feet deep.
3. Water for dust wntrol will be furnished by the City of Grand Junction via a metered tap
on the City's potable water system.
Please let me know if you need any additional information.
Sincerely, G~k~^^'c'
m s .Shanks, PE, PLS
2529 HIGH COUNTRY COURT, GRAND JUNCTION, CO 81501 P[970] 256 4177 F[970] 256 4014 riversideokwv(ileicitv.ore
