C~~
PN: 50213GE
Date: 10/20/05
1.1 Scope of Project
The proposed project will include development of a gravel mining operations adjacent to the
Florida Rivez. Access to the mining operation is proposed from La Plata County Road 309,
above and east of the site. The access roadway will cross the sloped azeas above and to the east
of the Florida River Valley. We understand that retaining structures and possibly Mechanically
Stabilized Earth (MSE) fills will be included in the project construction,
2.0 GEOTECI3NICAL ENGINIEERING STUDY

Our services include a geotechnical engineering study of the subsurface soil and water
conditions of azeas adjacent to the slope for development of aslope stability analysis for the
proposed access roadway.
2.1 Geotechnical Engineering Study Scope of Service
The outline of our study which was delineated in our proposal for services and the order of
presentation of the information presented in this report is presented in this report is presented
below.
Field Studv
We advanced three (3) test borings at the project within the azeas we understand aze
planned for construction of the proposed structure. (And parking azea asphalt paved
roadways)

• Select driven sleeve and bulk soil samples were obtained from the test borings and
returned to our laboratory for testing.
Laboratory Study
• The laboratory testing and analysis of the samples obtained included;
^ Moisture content and dry density,
^ Estimates of soil strength using duect sheaz strength tests, to help establish a basis
for development of our slope stability analysis,
^ Plastic and liquid limit tests to determine the Plasticity Index of the soil,
^ Sieve analysis tests.
TRAUTNER ~
A ONlS10N OF TRtGON~izZ9
