December 7, 2006
RECEI~~ED
Richazd M. Wenzel III, P.E. DEC 1 12006
Colorado Departrnent of Natural Resources
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety Division of Redamatlon,
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 Mining and Satety
Denver, Colorado 80203 /~y-~~
Deaz Rick: '~
The purpose of this letter is to withdraw my objection to the potential issuing
of a permit to allow the Glade Quarry to be instituted along Highway 287 north of
Ft. Collins.
I appreciated the opportunity to talk with you yesterday regarding the oversight that your
agency would have with respect to a reclamation plan should the permit for the quarry be
approved. I also spoke again last evening with Michael Beckedahl (sp?), the owner of
the company who has submitted the proposal. I realize that there is a complex
bureaucratic process both at the Larimer County and the State levels to approve this
project I don't feel as though it would be a prudent use of the time and effort it would
take to hold my ground on my objection given that there has been a lazger due process
that I had been unawaze of at the county level to address citizen concerns about this
proposed project. Unfortunately, our area in `Glacier View', north of Livermore, was not
an area that was specifically solicited for comment on the proposal by the County.
It.was because I had seen notification posted that my objection was then generated.
Being able to express my concerns, and have them considered, has been helpful in
realizing that citizens do have some voice in matters such as this. My hope is that, should
the quarry be given permission to be in operation, that there aze sufficient reclamation
provisions. Even though the intent is to mine the materials should there be an approval
for the proposed `Glade Reservoir', there will still be significant impact during this
process. I hope that your agency will do what it is mandated to do in order to provide the
proper oversight to ensure that the reclamation efforts are followed through on by the
Glade Quarry should they be issued the permit.
My hope is that it is cleaz that I do caze about the environmental impact, especially the
visual impact, that such a project would create in Larimer County. And, I hope that your
agency will follow through on it's mandate to ensure that the reclamation efforts aze
complied with.
Sincerely,. ,
Mazy Lon Evans
79 El Diente Ct.
Livermore, CO 80536
