Calowyo Coal Cmapany L.P. <br />Neilson Pit <br />• 6.3.2.3 Man Made Structures <br />Colowyo Coal Company operates a haul road that is adjacent to the Neilson Pit (see <br />Figure 1). This road is utilized by over the highway coal haul trucks and employees for <br />Colowyo's existing coal mine operation, and for transportation of minerals from the <br />Neilson Pit to areas within Colowyo's existing coal mine permit boundazy. <br />6.3.2.4 Water Resources <br />Surface and groundwater within the area of the Neilson Pit is limited to Taylor Creek. <br />Taylor Creek does not receive any recharge or runoff from the Neilson Pit due to the <br />limited confined groundwater aquifers above Taylor Creek, and all surface runoff is <br />contained by berms and directed into a small containment at the base of the Neilson Pit. <br />6.3.2.5 Wildlife <br />A wildlife statement from the Colorado Division of Wildlife is not required for Limited <br />Impact (110) Operations permits. <br />Exhibit C -Mining Plan <br />6.3.3.1 Mine Plan Time Line <br />• Mining at the Neilson Pit commenced in 1977 and has been used intermittently on an as <br />needed basis since that time. Mining of the Neilson Pit will cease in 2025. <br />The maximum acres of disturbance at the Neilson Pit for the life of mine will be nine and <br />one half acres. The active working area (pit floor) within the Neilson pit will encompass <br />approximately two acres with no stockpiles. All material mined from the Neilson pit is <br />directed haul out of the pit. The pit highwall will be approximately 150 feet and the pit <br />width will be 450 feet at it largest extent. <br />6.3.3.1 Facilities <br />The administration and shop facilities are located south of the Neilson Pit at Colowyo's <br />administration and shop buildings. Equipment used at the Neilson Pit will be Colowyo's <br />equipment. No facilities are located at the Neilson Pit site. <br />6.3.3.2 Roads <br />One road accesses the Neilson Pit from Colowyo's coal haulage road. Additional roads <br />into the site will not be needed. The current road is approximately 45 feet wide and a <br />blade will be utilized to repair the road when necessary. <br />6.3.3.3 Topsoil at:d Overburden <br />I • Topsoil was not stripped prior to the initiation of mining since mining took place directly <br />into the outcrop of the mineral.
