141
Site: 5RT13 (Fig.S 1, 25, 26).
site Type: Open camp.
rotation: SE;SW;, Sec. 35, T5n, R86w; UTM Zone 13, E329,880m., N4,466,570m.
Description: SRT13 is located on the west side of a high, north-trending
ridge which slopes down to Middle Creek and overlooks the confluence of
two seasonal drainages. The site elevation is 7392 ft. (2,253 m.). Tl~e
vegetation consists of aspen, Gamble's oak, serviceberry, sage, and grasses.
The nearest water is in an unnamed drainage 800 m. to the southwest. The
site faces to the west and covers an area 10 by 15 m.
Contents of the site are minimal, consisting of two manos (Fig. 25)
in proximity to an aspen grove. A powerline (fig. 26) and access road
cross the site on the west side, causing possible disturbance. 5RT13 is
located about 300 m. northwest of 5RT14.
Diagnostic Artifacts: TWO manos, Type IVC.
evaluation: SRT13's elevated location substantially reduces the prob-
ability of significant buried deposits on the site. Also, disturbance
of the site during construction of a nearby powerline is highly likely.
5RT13 has no potential for yielding important information to local,
state, or national prehistory and should not be nominated to the NRHP.
No further preservation action, either in the form of salvage or avoid-
ance of the site, is necessary.
