NORTHERN COLORADO CONSTRUCTORS
• 18100 WELD COUNTY ROAD 19 •
JOHNSTOWN, COLORADO 80534
January 21, 2002
Robert & Janet Airhazt
8593 Weld County Road 25
Fort Lupton, CO 80621
Dear Mt. & Mrs. Airhart,
Thank you for meeting with us on January 18, 2002 to discuss the concerns you have
about our proposed gravel mining operation on the property adjoining your property to the
south. We have discussed your concerns and offer the following information to try to answer
these concerns. It is much the same information as we discussed doting the meeting.
Regarding the alluvial wells on your property we would like, with your permission, to
develop a monitoring program which will include new monitoring wells on our side of the
common fence and also monitoring your existing wells to determine the chazacteristics of the
wells now and to determine any changes that might take place in the future. This program will
be set in motion as soon as is practical but no later than 2 months before any mining is
started. The monitoring program will include quality tests.
The monitoring wells will also be used to determine if the ground water level drops
and what effect this will have on the sub-irrigation of the fields adjoining the mining property.
If the sub-irrigation is affected water will be provided to maintain the ground water level as it
has been in the monitoring wells.
Low berms will be built between the two properties to control water from the
irrigation ditches and as a buffer from the mining operation. Also the mining will start near
your property and will advance to the south away from the your site. Also as soon as there is
room in the pit the processing equipment will be moved to the pit floor which will be 30 feet
below the surface. The pit bank will act as a sound barrier and the operation will not be seen
from the surface. We aze required to get a Dust Abatement Permit from the State Health
Depaztment and the guidelines set out in this permit will be followed. This includes
revegetating stockpiles and watering haul roads.
The project is being planned so that all activity, both now and in the future, will take
place on the property owned by Northern Colorado Constructors Inc.. There will be no need
to conduct any activity on your property unless you request help in some project you aze
doing.
