• STATUS CODES <br />Mammals: B = Recent records or strong evidence of breeding. <br />b = Old records or breeding can only be assumed. <br />M = Migrants only (applies only to bats). <br />Birds: R = Resident (Breeds, and present ;year-round). <br />N = Non-breeder present year-round, or a year-round resident <br />whose breeding has not been documented. <br />B = Breeding (Definite evidence of nesting, i.e., nests or <br />flightless young observed). <br />b = Very likely Breeding (Based on the observer's opinion. <br />For example, birds observed regularly in suitable nesting <br />habitat during the nesting season). <br />n = Non-breeder, but present during the nesting season. <br />• W = Winter Visitor (Present during most or all of the period <br />from December 16-February 28). <br />M = Migrant (Definition from 0. 'v:. Pettingill -any movement <br />between two areas). <br />A = Accidental or straggler (1-3 records in a latilong block). <br />If a species has this designs:ion, it may just indicate <br />that we have too few data to classify it under one of the <br />other status categories. <br />Herptiles: B = Resident: Breeding population with definite evidence of <br />reproduction such as eggs, larvae, or juveniles. <br />Specimens or photographs document occurrence. <br />b = Very Likely Resident: Observer strongly suspects species <br />is present. Difficult to collect and/or find <br />evidence of reproduction. <br />A = Accidental: Less than three records of sightings or occur- <br />rence as a result geographically displaced, <br />escaped pets. <br />• <br />
