LICENSES AND INCOME
• Revenue from the sale of big game hunting licenses in 1978 increased 22.5
per cent over 1977, while the total number of big game licenses sold increased
9.3 per cent. A strong increase of nonresident deer and elk license buyers
(36.2 per cent deer and 38.1 per cent elk over 1977) was the main contributing
factor to such a large increase in big game license revenue.
Approximately $15,533,629 or 72.5 per cent of the Division's income from
hunting, fishing and trapping license revenues was generated from those who
purchased big game hunting licenses.
Deer and elk license sales accounted for 71 per cent of the total revenue
from licenses sales in 1978 and nonresidents accounted for 65.5 per cent of the
same total estimated $21,415,721 revenue.
Tables 2 through 11 show the details of license sales and income for 1978
compared to prior years. Table 2 includes all hunting, fishing and trapping
license revenue and Tables 3 through 11 give the details by big game species.
•
L'
