Harley Pit I, MLRB file ~ M-86-147
Adequacy response continued
Exhibit E (5) cont.
b) We will decline this recommendation and choose to stick
with the SCS seeding recommendations.
c) We will defer to soil tests taken at the time of reclamation
to dictatefertilizer amounts required. This is consistent
with what we stated on page 13 under 3.11 (9)(iii).
6) Mowing; chemical control may be used if it will not harm
revegetation attempts.
7) This is a marginal seasonal grazing area. Two solutions that
will be investigated will be 1) to construct a single wire
electric fence around the pit or 2) to purchase grazing
rights on adjacent property as a supplement for the owners.
If feasible one of these solutions would be maintained until
the revegetation has been reestablished. We hope by having the
landowner directly involved at the time of reclamation that
he understand the importance of keeping cattle off the site
until the grasses have been established.
Sincerely,
~~
S~ L.
