~ r ~ <br /> <br />3 <br />I strongly recommend that because of the widespread com- <br />munity interest on this issue, and the impact of the <br />Board's decision, that you announce and hold public <br />hearings in Colorado Springs. <br />The members of the Board are public servants, and the <br />public has a right to have ample input. <br />It has been Federal agencies which have leased the mining <br />rights to Castle, and it has been Federal construction <br />projects that hve mainly benefited from the gouging of <br />the front range. <br />Now the State and people of Colorado Springs can finally <br />police this rampant despoilation. Various groups in our <br />community have through the years opposed these diggings, <br />but there has been a stiffling of opposition because of <br />past Castle Concrete intimidation. <br />The responsibility for any negative action against the <br />company is now upon the State.
