Lowe <br />Deazlv,~ Erickson: <br />In refer:: ice to Mr. Lowe's comment letter of 3 November 1997, we have the following <br />comments to clarify the situation. <br />Mr. Li: ve's concern regarding environmental impacts of the Stone Gravel Pit mii,;ng <br />operation upon the surrounding lands has been given cazeftil consideration in the <br />planning phase of the mining proposal. The dust and noise are a part of twat <br />consideration. The site's remoteness from lazge population areas and indeed from the <br />neazest neighboring residences is one of it's most attractive attributes. Noise and dus: a:e <br />carefull; controlled by the Colorado State Department of Health and Environment -Air <br />Pollutiol .Control Division Separate site and equipment permits are required by .;fate <br />statute. Each have carefully controlled parameters for operation within the proper health <br />standard:, both for the personnel involved in the activity operation and for the <br />suaoua: ing neighborhood <br />The regt irement for this mined land reclamation is another careful consideration for the <br />environ±-.ental impacts. I need not burden you with a listing of the many envirotunc :ttal <br />facets o:' the Mined Land Reclamation Law. Mr. Lowe appears to be uninforr:ed <br />however of the careful consideration that must go into planning the following: <br />aged operations to minimize disturbance at any one time. <br />;: torrnwater control meazures to prevent water runoff contamination. <br />.: ubsoil handling and replacement. <br />'I opsoil salvage, stockpiling, and re-tue. <br />~~ Wish grading and re-vegetation, with added fertilized, mulch, and obnoxious <br />weed control. <br />ail, vegetation, water, climate, and wildlife evaluations. <br />C~wnerships, easemettts, leases, access, water supply, and structtual impacts <br />
