• 2.05.3
Sediment pond K collects run-off from the batch weigh loadout and surrounding
area. Pond K is a typical sediment pond, capable of containing the run-offfrom a 10-
yearevent with a spillway system designed to handle the peak flow generated by the
25-year storm event.
Sediment pond F collects run-off from the new gob disposal area. Pohd F is a
fypica! sediment pond, capable of containing the run-off from a 10-year event with an
emergency spillway system designed to handle the peak flow generated by the 25-
yearstorm event. The initial sections of the emergency spillway are riprap plated
open channels. Flow is conveyed over the fire Mountain Canal in a metal flume.
Dewatering of Pond F will be by pumping through a buried 4-inch diameter primary
spillway pipe that discharges into D-Gulch where fhe flow goes under SH-1336, over
the Deer Trail Ditch and under the Fire Mountain Canal.
(i) General Drainage Plan
(i)(A) Sediment ponds B, C, J K, and F and the general drainage plan for the main site,
loadout and new gob pile were prepared underthe direction of J. E. Stover, Colorado
Professional Engineer, No.19230. Sediment pond D and the general drainage plan
for the gob pile was prepared under the direction of Allan J. Breitenbach, Colorado
Professional Engineer, No. 15247.
•
(i)(B) A description of the ponds is presented above. Detail drawings of ponds B, C, J, K
and F are presented on Map Nos. 22-B, 22-C, 22-J, 22-K and Volume IX Figure 3
respectively: A detailed drawing of the gob pile sediment pond is presented in
Volume 4, drawing 95266-04.
(i)(C) The preliminary hydrologic and geologic information required to assess the
hydrologic impact of the structure is presented in Volume III, Exhibit 8 for ponds B, C,
J & K, Volume IV, Appendices A and B for the refuse pile pohd and Volume IX,
Appendix B, for Pond F.
(i)(D) No underground mining has occurred under any of the sediment ponds and none is
anticipated.
(i)(E) Not applicable.
(ii) Detailed Design Plans
(ii)(A) Sediment ponds B, C, J, K and F and the drainage plan for the main site, loadout
and new gob pile were prepared under the direction of J.
