<br />United States Natural Resources <br />Department of Conservation <br />Agriculture Service <br />------------------------------------ <br />July 7, 1995 <br />Mr. John Ungefug, P.E. <br />Southway Construction Co., Inc. <br />117 White Pine Drive <br />Alamosa, CO 81101 <br />Dear Mr. Ungefug: <br /> <br />USDA Service Center <br />2205 State Avenue <br />Alamosa, CO 81101 <br />To follow up our telephone conversation on July 6, I <br />will be conducting an on-site evaluation of the proposed <br />fill soil borrow area located in the NE1/4 of the NW1/4 of <br />Section 8-T37N-R10E during the week of July 17, 1995. The <br />items I will be looking at include: depth to water table, <br />range inventory of existing plant species, range condition <br />and trend, slopes and any other physical landscape features <br />that are pertinent. <br />In regard to the letter you sent to our office dated <br />July 5, 1995, further information is needed on: <br />-- pit size i.e. acres, depth <br />-- time frame that pit will be open <br />-- how much of the pit will be open at one time <br />-- will the existing pit be expanded on or will new separate <br />pits be opened up on the site <br />-- will revegetation be done in stages or all at once <br />-- future land use of site i.e. rangeland, wetland <br />Some of the above was provided by you verbally. If you <br />could include these items in your letter to the Mosca-Hooper <br />Soil Conservation District and a carbon copy forwarded to <br />our office, I can report my preliminary findings to the <br />district board at their next meeting on August 13 and <br />include their comments in my report to you.
