EXHIBIT D - Mining Plan
We intend to continue excavation at the level in the existing
excavated area within the pit limits. In general it is approximately
six to ten feet below ground surface. The material will be used as
fill materials for construction sites in and around Alamosa. The
materials are for the most part alkali sands. The sand has high
bearing capacity and is generally free draining which makes it an
excellent material for fill at building sites.
The excavated face will be worked with a loader from North to South.
Trucks will run on the excavated level.
No water diversions will be necessary due to the low precipitation in
the area, the free draining nature of the soils in the area, and the
flat gradient of the land in and around Alamosa.
If the average depth of available material is six feet then one acre
will yield approximately 10,000 cubic yards of available fill
material. The demand for this material is very hard to estimate. It
is totally dependent upon local growth and the building market. If
past years are any indicator it is estimated that enough material is
in the pit to supply the needs for approximately the next ten years.
It is hoped that reclamation can proceed on at least a portion of
previously mined areas as the mining process continues. Since truck
traffic and loading operations will occur on the previously mined
areas at least some portion will remain disturbed until final
reclamation.
This source will operate less than 180 days per year. An estimate of
the site and location of each phase is impossible to forecast since
at this time the magnitude and quantities for materials needed from
this source are unknown.
Mining will proceed from North to South starting on the northeast
portion of the property which has already been mined and is currently
being used as an illegal dumping ground by persons unknown. This
area will be cleaned up prior to commencing mining operations.
