Cattany
Acing Division Dir¢ctor
The Division of Minerals and Geology received your application fora 112 Construction
Materials Permit on May 28, 2002. The application was called complete on June 18,
2002 and the decision date is September 16, 2002. Please be advised that if you are
unable to adequately address any concerns that the Division identifies through this review
prior to the decision date, it will be your responsibility to request an extension to the
decision date. If the items have not been adequately addressed or an extension has not
been requested prior to the decision date, the application maybe denied
Overall the application is well organized and adequately addresses the majority of the
requirements of the Construction Materials Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined
Land Reclamation Boazd. However, there aze a couple of azeas that will require
additional information as follows.
6.4.3 EXHIBIT C -Pre-mining and Mining Plan Maps of Affected Lands
The pre-mining map(s) must show all adjoining surface owners of record. The map
submitted with the application does not contain this information. Please submit a revised
map showing this information.
6.4.5 EXHIBIT E- Reclamation Plan
Under 6.4.5(2) (fj in the reclamation plan narrative it is stated that side-slopes will be
maintained at 2H:1 V during mining and presumably upon final grading. The division's
experience with reclaimed gravel pits is that the flatter the back-filled or re-graded slopes,
the more success at establishing vegetation and controlling erosion. Observations of
2H:1 V slopes have generally indicated poor vegetative establishment and excessive
erosion. Therefore, we aze recommending that maximum reclaimed slopes should be
3H:1 V or flatter. Please revise the narrative to reflect this change.
