1
EXHIBIT D (Cont'd)

stages of the mining and reclamat ion operation and a technical
'
revision will be requested. The tracts are designated Area 1,
' 2 and 3 on map Exhibit D-1.
The Ute pit is operated year round by Robinson Brick and
' Tile Company as a source of clays for its brick operation.
Robco has drilled 88 test ho les on this property in order
ll
li
f
h
l
to define the location, thickness ay as we
e c
and qua
ty o
t
' as the thickness of the overlying overburden. The clay to be
mined will vary in thickness from approximately 10 feet to 45
' feet or more. The amount of over burden varies between 6 feet
and 32 feet.
~ Soils are covered in a report prepared by I.4r. G7ark Heffner
' of Oikos, Environmental Consultants. This report is included in
the application as Exhibits I and J. SVe expect to segregate and
t stockpile between 10 and 14 inches of the preferred soils. V7e
quote from 1,Ir. Heifner's summary: "There does not appear to be
' soils
ualit
of existin
a
diffi
uantit
or
lt
ith th
g
q
y
ny
cu
y w
e q
y
on the site; and by saving 12 inches of the material, excepting
the very thin and eroded Newlin soils, there should be sufficient
' plant growth medium to reclaim all the affected lands."
Topographically, the land elevation drops in a direction
' from east to west. This is in contrast to the normal west to
' east loss in elevation along the front range. Thus, the drainage
pattern is also in opposition to the normal and runs east to
west across the property.

- 11 -
'
