SOIL LOSS COMPARISON - NORTH THOMPSON CREEK MINE SITES
• RECLAIMED VERSUS NATURAL CONDITIONS
The following calculations are presented to determine if
untreated drainage from the reclaimed North Thompson Creek
Mine Sites is contributing additional suspended solids
above natural conditions.
A vegetation survey was performed during July 1992. The
vegetation survey is located in Volume II, Appendix 3-W
Natural conditions are considered to be those conditions
that exist in the adjacent (proposed extended reference area)
located north of the reclaimed mine site. The July 1992
vegetation study presents, in Table 11, the vegetation
conditions that exist in the adjacent area as follows:
Total Vegetation Cover 46.9%
Perennial Cover:
Grasses, etc. 2.5%
Forbs 2.0%
Shrubs 30.8%
Trees 11.5%
Total Perennial Cover 46.8%
Litter 20.6%
• Perrennial Cover + Litter 67.4%
Canopy (30.8 + 11.5) 42.3%
The condition of the reclaimed North Thompson Creek Mine Site
is taken from the July 1992 vegetation study. The results
of this vegetation report, presented in Table 2 of the report,
are as follows:
Total Vegetation Cover 44.1%
Perrenial Cover:
Grasses 20.3%
Forbs 19.9%
Shrubs 3.1%
Trees 0%
Total Perennial Cover 43.3%
Litter 26.1%
Perrennial Cover + Litter 69.4%
Canopy 3.1%
4-19i
10-02-92
Tr
