...
ZORICH - ERKER ENGINEERING, INC.
Page 7
The groundwater in storage in the area of the proposed mine was
estimated to be 175 acre feet. This water will mist likely be drained
from the bedrock in which it occurs without affecting any of the surround-
ing groundwater occurrences over the life of the mine. As this water
is note nor has probably ever been put to use, its loss will cause no
injury and because the area will be recharged over titre due to the nature
of .the backfilled surface, the hydrologic balance will not be permanently
disrupted. Surface drainages may be altered in part and several of the
current .intermittent streams will carry water due to the dewatering of
the mine. However, due to the overall semi arid conditions of the project
area and the relative short term disruption due to the m;n;nq operation,
the overall hydrologic affect should be minimal.
In wnclusion, it has been determined frmn the available data
that no injury or depletion of any regional aquifers nor major surface
stream disruption will occur due to the proposed open pit mine operation
in Montrose County.
