<br />Abstract <br /> <br />A cultural resource inventory of 10.5 acres (4.25 ha) was carried out for a proposed <br />privately-owned gravel source pit in Montrose County, Colorado. The Weimer Ranch Pit is <br />located southwest of the Hopkins-Montrose county Airport, on the edge of First Park mesa <br />overlooking the San Miguel River valley The field work was done on September 20, 1995 by <br />Nancy S. Hammack, Complete Archaeological Service Associates (CASH) at the request of the <br />gravel pit permittee, Sutherland Bros., Inc. This project was carried out in compliance with <br />applicable historic preservation legislation and laws. The field work, on privately-owned <br />lands, was undertaken under the provisions of Colorado State Archaeological Permit No. 95- <br />17. issued to CASA. <br />No cultural resources were located within the proposed source pit. Cultural resource <br />clearance is recommended for the Weimer Ranch Pit as described in this report. <br />
