~;: -.. . .
It is anticipated that 1v1CC will need to occupy the doll pad azea 24-hotus per day, 7 days per week, for
• monitoring and water injection until after completion of Panel 13A (7anuary 2001). Typically, mine
personnel will travel the roadway several times per day to bring samples, water level, temperature and
gas readings back to the mine site. The drill pad azea is the surface azea above the former combustion
zone of the underground ~'~ Northwest Headgate azea Atypical equipment list is attached which lists
equipment required at the drill sites for monitoring and water injection. Due to the longer than
anticipated occupancy, MCC was requested by the USFS to apply for a Special Use Permit. This
permit application will be submitted by MCC to the USFS by May 31, 2000.
Final reclamation of the drill sites and associated pads and roads is anticipated to begin eazly in the
spring of 2001. Final reclamation would include pump and pipeline removal, re-grading of sub-soil (to
approximate original contour) of pads and roads, re-distribution of topsoil, seeding, fertiliang, and
mulching. Sediment control measures would also be installed, i.e., silt fence, erosion control netting
and etc. The land use of grazing and wildlife habitat will remain the same.
Pumping rates have decreased on the surface to the combustion azea and it is anticipated that the flow
will also decrease at the Lone Pine Gulch dischazge point. Water samples aze being taken and analyzed
for the CDMG "Long List" of parameters. When this information is downloaded to MCCs data base
and when MCC receives the analyses from our contract laboratory, the information will be forwazded
to the Division.
Please notify me if you have questions regazding this updated information.
•Sin ~ ~ ~~
my A. be
Enviro tal Engineer
Enclosures: Equipment List
Emergency Drill Hole Data Sheet (5-17-00)
BWbl's and ~ NWHG Drill Sites (5-17-00)
Interim Reclamation of Drill Sites (5-19-00)
cc: P.
