The overall projett purpose is to obtain sand and gravel from <br />a local site for rue with county road maintenance end construction. <br />Project DeserlpHon <br />Sand and gravel is to be bulldozed from the stream bed to a stockpile on the streaat bank. these <br />piles will be arranged along the stream bank depending on the amount of material required for road <br />maintrnance. 4:1 slopes will be maintained to prevent degradarion to the banks. The mining operation <br />will be conducted whrn stream flow isnon-existen[. The product stockpile will be looted such as not to <br />alter the stream flow during flood stages and will not realign the channel in any way. <br />Wetland Impacts <br />The project is not expected to impact wetlands. <br />•rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr~rr• <br />The Colorado Depertraent of Public Health and Environment. WQCD-GWPS-BP, 4300 Chary <br />Creek Drive South, Denver, Colorado 80222-1530, will review the proposed project for state certification in <br />accordance with the provisions of Section 401 of the Clean Water Act The certification, if issued, will <br />express the State's opinion that the opetatiotta undertakrn by the applicant will not insult in a violation of <br />applicable water quality standards. The Colorado Departmrnt of Public Health and Environment hereby <br />incorporates this public notice as its own public notice and procedures by zzferrnce thereto. <br />The Colorado Departmrnt of Public Health and Envizoamatt also reviews each project with respect <br />to the anti-degradation provisions in state regulations. "that decision will reflett the <br />national concern for both pro[ection and utilization of important resources. The benefits which reasonably <br />maybe expected to accrue from the proposal must be balanced against the reasonably foreseeable <br />detriments.
