Water Monitoring
Blue Flame Coal Mine has committed to monthly water quantity and to
• quarterly water quality sampling. Blue Flame Coal Ptine takes the Division's
suggestion that Blue Flame Coal Mine eliminate the timetable and allow the text
to stand on its own with the specified commitments. Blue Flame Coal Mine also
accepts the Division's suggestion to submit water quantity measurements along
with water quality measurements on a quarterly basis.
Blue Flame Coal Ptine has depicted the location of the 500 gallon por-
table plastic water tank on Map 1. As indicated previously, this 500 gallon
plastic water tank will be portable and most likely left in the back of a pick-up.
Therefore, Blue Flame Coal Mine is not sure exactly where the plastic water tank
will be placed all of the time. However, the tank will be located near loadout
facilities and the water stored will be used for spraying the coal down to elim-
inate coal dust in the trucks.
Sediment Disposal
Blue Flame Coal Mine accepts the suggestion that Blue Flame Coal [•line
revise the sediment pond sediment disposal scenario. Pather than disturbing new
areas to the south and west of the proposed pond, the Division has suggested
that sediment removed from the sediment pond be placed in an unused portion of
• the mine bench area. Blue Flame Coal Kline has depicted the revised location of
the sediment disposal area on t9ap 1. If, and when sediment is to be disposed
of, it will be deposited and then used during tiie reclamation process. At this
time, Blue Flame Coal is unable to determine thn_ quality of the soil. However,
if sediment removal is necessary, Blue Flame Ceal will have the soil tested to
determine its quality. If it is of an adequate quality to be used during re-
topsoiling, Blue Flame Coal Mine will use this sediment to retopsoil. Ho•.ue ver,
if the quality of the soil is deficient, Blue Flame Coal Mine will use this
material as a sub-base for the reclamation process.
c• • = 6 ~ ~ ~ •-• ~ _
-_,.~
