• EXHIBIT "H" •
WILDLIFE INFORMATION
The major wildlife species considered to live in this area of
the high Rocky Mountains are an occassional elk, Mule Deer, an
occassional bear, Cottontail, Snowshoe Hare, Blue Grouse, wild turkey,
coyotes, fox and also various non-game rodents. However, all of
the above mentioned wildlife is rare in this particular area. The
area is poorly suited for protective and escape cover and limited
food indicates that the soil conditions severely limit the number
of productive plants. The rates of growth and seed production are
well below average. The only use which deer and elk could get out
of the area is in the unaffected area near the creek. There is no
use for winter range and/or forage due to snow conditions.
Adjacent areas of land around the pit site offer the same type
of wildlife and range for food. Noise and construction activity
should be no problem as these animals readily adapt to these other
areas,
There are no endangered species on the land.
The creek bottom which is the only area containing a considerable
amount of wildlife will not be disturbed in any way. All mined area
will be away from the stream and the vegetation on the creek bottom
will not be disturbed.
The lake resulting from reclamation should attract water foul
and other animals to the area in greater numbers then now exist.
