These pits are adjacent to the river, which would
supply some recharge to this area There may be a redaction in the groundwater table of
1 to 3 feet during. some times of the year. This would not be expected to adversely
impact any wells in the area
22. Char9elarization of the South Platte Valley Till Agoffer
The Valley fill aquifer in this general location is approximately 6,500 to 7,000 feet in
width. , The vol»me of saturated thiclmess of the ayttifer varies with depth to bedtnck, bla
generally ranges between 's0 to 40 feet as chatecteriud by the US(3S. Tbas would
indicate that.the aquifer characteristics agree wilt existing reining opetatioac in the area
that have been done to dart.: TLe aquifer generally has a permeability of about 7;000 to
9;000 gpd/squsre foot, and a coefficient of storage of 0.09.
The .hydraulic gradient of the groundwater table is based on the topography of the :area
and will vary. The gradient can be estimated using the gradient of the river valky..ia this
vicinity which is 0.00352 fdit.
Flow dit+ection of the groundwater thmugh this aquifer is on a diagonal that moves,
downstream. It.generally reflecU return flow patterns from irrigated lands in the at~ea or
sources of seepage such as precipitation, irrigation ditches, techazge projects; etc.
Sources will change over time, particularly with respect to irrigation practiws. Liigablc
land that is taken from service or ditch shares that are ttansfetred to other uses will have.
an impact un the groundwater table. These impacts would be ttnlmown and' well beyond
the scope of this permit.
f~oo4
