(This pit had absolutely no preplann;ng,) It could be shaped, but
the cut would have to be well extended into the mountain causing an even
greater scar that would have to be revegetated. To do a proper job,
that 3s what should be done,
1. Shape if possible. Gabions may have to be constructed on the entire
site. The pro er way is to go ahead and take as much as you have to
to obtain a 2~ slope with intermittent terraces.
2. Top soil should then be spread 6-8" and packed to form a firm
seedbed.
3. Fertilize at seeding with 60-BO lbs of Nitrogen and Phosphorous each.
4, I suggest an agronorgy blanket be used here, too, because it can
stabilized better than a plain mulch of straw. This would protect
against excessive erosion and maintain mpisture.
Seeding LAS PLS~AC ~ OF MIX LBS MIX~ACRE
Crested 6•lheatgrass Nordan 10 50~ 5.0 lbs
Blue Bunch l•Rteatgrass 19 3~ 4.g lbs
Indian Rice Grass Paloma 12.5 10~ 1.25 lbs
Yellow Sweet Clover 7 10~ .7 lbs
~~ mix
per acPe
