Long
Division Dvenor
As we discussed on the telephone, there are a few lingering concerns regarding
the above referenced permit application. Please respond to each concern prior
to the December 23, 1992, decision date.
Please clarify the details of your proposed mine plan, i.e. will
the area of gravel extraction be limited to that area south of the
berm indicated on the mine plan map? How will the area south of
the berm be accessed from the processing and stockpiling area?. You
have previously committed to limiting excavations to removal of
gravel bars. The Division concurs that this extraction method will
minimize disturbance to the hydrologic balance.
2. In addition to the reclamation measures that you have proposed, the
Division requests that you commit to preparing the seed bed by
ripping to a minimum two foot depth, application of two tons per
acres of straw or hay mulch at the time of seeding, and application
of fertilizer as needed based on soil analysis at the time of
reclamation. In addition to the grass species you have suggested,
the Division would like you to add Inland Salt Grass at 4 lbs./ac.
P.L.S. broadcast, and Galleta at 8 lbs/ac. P.L.S broadcast. The
mulch applied should be crimped into the soil and weeds should be
controlled either by mowing or herbicide.
3. The following is a summary of the Division's reclamation cost
estimate for this site:
a> Your estimate of $1,000.00 for site grading is adequate.
b) Cost of ripping, seeding, mulching and fertilization is
$500.00/acre for a total of $5,000.00.
