• SEDCAD+ Sedimentology Inputs
Inputs to the sedimentology component of the SEDCAD+ computer model
include:
- Particle Size Distribution
- Runoff Volume
- Peak Discharge
- Soil Erodibility Factor
- Representative Slope Length
- Average Slope
- Control Practice Factor
- Rainfall Factor
- Sediment Specific Weight
Particle Size Distribution. SEDCAD+ provides a default particle size
• distribution for both undisturbed and disturbed soils. These default
distributions were derived using a number of gradation curves from
around the United States for disturbed and undisturbed soils. They are
intended to be typical representative curves. Numbers are entered into
the SEDCAD+ program to select the appropriate gradation curve, as
follows:
Soil Designation Input No.
Disturbed 1
Undisturbed 2
The default values were utilized for the Kerr Mine proposed sediment
ponds.
Runoff Volume, V. Runoff volume is calculated by SEDCAD+ as previously
described 1n the SEDCAD+ Calculations portion of the Hydrology section,
and is considered to be an internal input.

23-69
