• CULVERT HYDRAULICS AND DESIfiN <br />Culverts were designed according to the procedures set forth by the U.S. <br />Bureau of Public Roads. The peak discharge from the 10-year, 24-hour <br />storm was used to design all culverts. Peak flow rates were determined <br />in accordance with the SCS Publication titled Procedures for Determining <br />Peak Flows in Colorado, (USDA-SCS, 1980). Gulvert locations are shown <br />on the Mine Area Surface Water Hydrology Map. (Map 22). Culvert Designs <br />are summarized in Table 23-2, Existing Culvert Design Summary. Figure <br />23-11, U.S. Bureau of Public Roads Nomograph. illustrates the procedure <br />used to size the culverts. <br />• <br /> <br />23-47 <br />
