•
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This section of the Drainage and Sediment Control Plan addresses existing
drainage and sediment control structures. Design information for these
structures was submitted in the original Kerr Application in 1980.
Designs for these structures have been approved, and the structures have
been constructed, and currently exist at the Kerr Mine. The existing
structures are as follows:
- Sedimentation Ponds - A, B, C, D, E, F, G
- Diversion Ditches - A1, B1, B2, C1, D1, Gi
- Culverts - 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9
A number of these structures were constructed prior to promulgation of the
Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977 and the subsequent
Colorado regulatory program. The affected structures were modified or
reconstructed during 1979-1980 to effect compliance with applicable
regulations.
The on final certified drawin s reflectin current
g g g pond configurations,
Sedimentation Ponds Kerr Coal Mine (Plate I), and Sedimentation Ponds -
Hydrology and Hydraulics (Plate II), have been included without revision
in this revised exhibit. The following structures have been redesigned to
reflect changes in the mining and reclamation plans and should be
disregarded on these drawings:
- Sedimentation Ponds - H, I, J, K, L, M, N
- Diversion Ditches - H1, I1, I2, I3, K1, M1, N1, N2, I4

Design methodology, assumptions, parameters, and calculations for the
existing structures are based upon applicable regulations at the time of
approval. As a consequence, some of this information may not be
consistent with current regulatory guidelines.
23-4R Revised - August, 1991
