05/11/1995 14:45 719 <br />• <br />ABEL ENGINEERING <br />• <br />PaGE le <br />Other than the "Overburden Stockpile" all other individual stockpiles will be kept at a maximum <br />site of 5.0011 tons each until use. This will result in piles with approximate dimensions of base of <br />fifty(SU) feet, heighe of forty (4U) feet and a length of eighty (gU) fat. <br />I~v As mining progresses: an area that will no longer be required for use will be Grin graded, the <br />1v a ~ topsoil restored.and that area reseeded according to the `Reclamation Plan'. The mining will <br />~~ ~~~ proceed " a clockwise directio ith the redatnation of an area already mined occurring behind <br />it. The Topsoil remov rom the ne~f phase will be used on the area already mined. The <br />previous area will be reclaimed as quickly as is reasonably practical as mining progresses. <br />GENERAL ARRANGEMENTS: Layout of the mining operation is flexible and the locations of <br />stockpiles is expected to turns as the mining progresses per operations eonvertitutce. <br />~Tlte topsoil will be piled near the East border labeled on the "Beginning Grading Plan " to <br />"Overburdrn (Topsoil) Stockpile' <br />The sm~Il amounts of Clay material encountered at the site will be used tnaiNy as binder for <br />local gravel roads. Any Clay Cottttd will be lempororily stored in the oleo titled "Clay Stockpile' <br />on the map. Note again this stockpiles will not exceed 5.1100 tons. <br />The larger Boulders and Cobbles will be stored in the area shown on the "Mining Plan Map" <br />tilled 'Ovelsiu Stockpile". The Boulders and Cobbles will be used for erosion control. Rip•Rap, <br />homers. landscaping or other such uses by the County of Custer. Aowsionally thry will may be <br />cntslted and used to chip sell. <br />The Count' estimates a maximum Gmvel usage of 30.00(1 tons per year. The Sand and Gravel <br />will be screened. entshed. coned attd piled in the area labeled "Gravel Stockpile' on an as ntxded <br />basis. Note that the operation of a crusltcr is a rare ottvanx and some dust ie treated during its <br />operation. <br />GRADING: Proper grading and care will be taken on a continuous basis for the prevention of erosion at <br />the site. Shonly after an)' major mittstorm the "PERMIT AREA" will be examinod for any <br />erasion and repairs immediately performed. ' <br />4~ Temporary diecrsion ditches will be used to redirect ntrface mnoH'around and away from Ail <br />'~( Fi areas in order to prevent the erosion of silt into the pit area. Ste ditch details at the end o! this <br />~ Exhibit. Water imporrndntettt will not be permitted. Straw bales will be used to filter out,silt at <br />X ` m I lf~ I settling basins and looted at points along the drainoge ditches as reyuired. See details ai,the end <br />t 7 Y of this Exhibit. Settling basinsand ditches will be mainuined on a regular as needed basis. Straw <br />bales, settling basins and other erosion protection items will remain in place until vegetation is <br />established as per the Soil Cortservation Service approval. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION: Refueling of equipment will be performed using portable refueling <br />trucks only. No tanks will be rioted on tile. All handling and spill cleanup regulations will be <br />observed. Liner and debris will be removed on a regular basis. <br />IMPROVEMENTS- A "Landfill Access Road' ntrretttly criris along the Eariern hank nd inside the <br />"PERMIT AREA' boundary• and is being used to access the "Custer County Lan a 'PIT <br />HAUL ROAD` will be a new eversion o[ the "Landfill Aaa:ss Road` and will be used to haul <br />mrterials in and out of the site. This road is shown on the maps extending along the Southeast <br />edge down into [he training area. Driving will occur in the pit a s required and is nor <br />indicated on the maps. The "PIT HAUL ROAD" will be used fo all bases of the minlnQ <br />.~ <br />
