16C-pnt_nt ]oam, l to 6 Lrcent slopes <br />This dc•cp, well drained, Ecntly sloping soil i^ on al]uvial fans, <br />benches, and basins. It formed in alluvium from mixed sources. Eleva- <br />lion ranges from („000 to 7,600 feet. The ~,v,•rage annual preci{•itation <br />is about 13 inches, the average annual air temperature is about 44 <br />degre~e~ F., and the frost-free period is about 85 to 105 days. <br />Typically, the aurface layer is a light brownish gray loam about B <br />ine}res thick. The subsurface is a very pale brown sandy clay loam <br />about 34 inches thick. The substratum is a very pale brown gravelly <br />sandy clay loam extending to a depth of more than 60 inches. <br />The surface layer is loam, fine sandy loam, or sandy clay loam. It <br />ranges from grayish brown through brown and pale brown to light gray <br />and light yellowish brown in hue of lOYR. It is weakly to strongly <br />calcareous. The subsurface layer averages bc•twc•en 18 and 35 percent <br />clay. Color ranges from light brownish gray through pale brown to <br />light yellowish brown and very pale brown. It is strongly or very <br />strongly calcareous. Gravel content ranges from 0 to 5 percent. The <br />substratum is gravelly or very gravelly in places, and near the <br />Dotsero Cone is commonly sandy loam of high volcanic ash content. <br />Included in mapping arc :;mall areas of F'~ir•rrt ;:ails of moderate slope, <br />and small areas of gently sloping Yamac soils.
