SOILS
Thickness, Suitability for t4ining
Soils are shallow at this site, which is located on a terrace of
the Eagle River. They range from 1 to 12 inches deep, being more
shallow at Area A and deeper at Area B. The appropriateness of
mining sand and gravel is obvious because of the lack of a heavy
overburden above the deposit.
Types, Distribution, Suitability for Reclamation
Soils consist of loam and sandy loam. They are typical of alluvial
and terrace formations at elevations of 6,000 to 7,000 feet. They
currently support rangeland uses and are suitable for that purpose.
See soils map and interpretations, following page.
I-1
