EMD (Panel 2 Right through 6 Right)(PR 97-04)
The existing facilities currently in place at TCC will be used to support mining of coal in the remainder of the
EMD. Presently, TCC is not anticipating the need to construct any new surface facilities. Therefore, no response
is required for this rule.
NMD (Panels 12 right through 16 Right) (PR 99-05)
The existing facilities currently in place at TCC will be used to support mining of coal in the remainder of the
NMD. Presently, TCC is not anticipating the need to construct any new surface facilities. Therefore, no response
is required for this rule.
NW Mains Ventilation Shaft and Thickener Underflow Project (TR 01-39)
Construction of the NW Mains ventilation shaft will result in limited surface disturbance for the shaft pad, and
associated access road, and powerline. An AVF and soil survey of potential disturbance areas conducted by
Habitat Management, Inc. indicated that the disturbance would fall within the mapped boundaries of the Slocum
loam and Binco silty clay loam soil types. Three soil pits were excavated and soil parameters were documented
consistent with the applicable AVF requirements of Rule 2.06.8. Soil survey results are presented in Exhibit 16A,
NW Mains Ventilation Shaft -AVF Soil Investigation. The AVF soil survey indicates a distinct soil, vegetation,
and topographic boundary between the Fish Creek AVF and the upland portion of the study area.
NMD (Panels 17 right through 21 Right) (PR 03-06)
The existing facilities currently in place at TCC will be used to support mining of coal in the remainder of the
NMD. Presently, TCC is not anticipating the need to construct any new surface facilities. Therefore, no response
is required for this rule.
RULE 2.04.10 -VEGETATION INFORMATION
(1) The permit application shall contain a vegetation map, prepared in accordance with 2.10, which
delineates plant communities within the permit area, or in case of underground mining, anv area to be affected by
surface operations or facilities, and within anv proposed reference area(s). The delineation of plant communities
shall be on the basis of the visually dominant perennial species.
~) If the applicant intends to use reference area(s) to evaluate the success of revegetation, as
described in 4.15.7(4), the proposed locations of these reference area(s) must be included on the vegetation map.
~) The vegetation map shall include sufficient adjacent areas to allow evaluation of vegetation as
important habitat for fish and wildlife for those species of fish and wildlife identified under 2.04.11. An aerial
photograph, with the plant communities delineated, may be used in lieu of a vegetation map for this purpose.
(41 Plant communities shall be described in terms of species, composition, cover, productivity, and
wood plant density. The application shall include a discussion of environmental factors controlling or limiting
the distribution of species, such as elevation, slope, aspect, soils, water, availability, and past management.
Current condition shall be discussed for each community^twe or portion thereof if significant differences exist
within a type.
PR 03-06 2.04-50 03/02/04
