Site/Feature Type: Homestead <br />4. General Site/Feature Description: Five log structures, one rock and concrete <br />cistern, one depression with rock rubble and one earthen dam with associated pond. One <br />of the log structures (H1) had rock walls and the depression contained some rock <br />rubble, possibly walls of a cellar of some sort. <br />5. Historic Component date(s) and/or sociopolitical period: Homesteading, probably <br />based on ranching, was the main economic base for this location. First Receiver <br />Receipt (RR) was issued on 10/17/05 to Alice Eaton and then canceled on 12/23/11. On <br />2/26/36 Joe Ostershek received a new RR which was finally patented in 1941. This <br />parcel was sold to several parties until the current owner (Peabody Coal Company) <br />purchased it in 1986. No additional information (important persons, events, etc.) was <br />found concerning this property. <br />justification: Courthouse records and library files. <br />6.
