<br />A. Location
<br />The Minnesota C&H Allotment is located 'on the Paonia
<br />District, Gunnison tlational Forest, Region 2, in the Delta
<br />and Montrose counties. Specific location is, all or
<br />portior•s of Section 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, and 10 of T15S, R911•:,
<br />6th P.M.; Sections 13, 14, 23 through 29, and_Sections 32
<br />through 35, T14S, R91W, 6th P.M. Also Sections 15 through
<br />30, and Sections 32 through 36, 7145; R901d;"6th P.M.;'
<br />Sections 15, 19 through 22, 26 through 35, T14S, R89W,
<br />6th P.M.; Sections 1 through 12, 14 through 23, 26, and
<br />29, T155, R891J, 6th P.M.; Sections l.throu9h S;:Sectons _.-

<br />Elevations on the Allotment vary from 6,400 feet on the
<br />west boundary to 11,800 feet on Mount Gunnison along the -
<br />north boundary. The high point along the south boundary
<br />is Elk Basin Pass at 9,990 fee*_. The allotment slopes
<br />generally east and ~•iest from Minnesota Pass. The main -
<br />drainages are Minnesota Greek west of hinnesota Pass, and
<br />Willow, Coal, Smith Fork, and Kaufman east of Minnesota -
<br />Pass.
<br />D. Soils - - :..
<br />Soils are relatively deep sandy clay loam through the center
<br />portion of the Allotment. An area of heavy clay extends
<br />along the soutwest side of the Allotment. Roci;s of the
<br />general area are igneous intrusive rocks and shale. Soils
<br />on the steeper slopes are generally developing_on fine
<br />textured parent material.
