EWBIT J--VEGETATION INFORMATION <br /> This site contains two vegetative features. One being of woodland, the other <br /> being meadows. The woodlands tie mainly on the Resort soil. These areas are <br /> dominated by pinyon,juniper, and ponderosa pine. The potential production of native <br /> understory is about 250 pounds of air-dry vegetation per acre. The meadows lie on <br /> Martindale soil and consist mainly of low growing grasses and shrubs. The average <br /> production of air-dry vegetation on the Martindale soil is about 750 pounds per acre. <br /> Grasses identified at the site included; blue giama, mountain muhly, western <br /> wheatgrass,needleandthread,prairie junegrass, and sleepygrass. Shrubs identified at the <br /> site included fringed sage, squaw current, and winterfat. Trees identified at the site <br /> included ponderosa pine, pinyon and juniper. In addition, prickly pear and occasional <br /> Indian paintbrush can be found. <br /> Ponderosa pines were found to be up to 40 feet tall at 20 trees per acre in the <br /> densest woodland. Pinyon pine decorates the site 50 trees an acre, at a max height of 25 <br /> feet. Juniper can also be found in smaller numbers, approximately 5 trees an acre at a <br /> height of 20 feet. Squaw current was the predominant shrub found within the woodland. <br /> Approximately 20 shrubs an acre at a height of 8 feet were found at the highest <br /> conservation. Ground cover in the treed areas is about 55%. <br /> The meadows predominantly consist of blue grams grass, from 4 to 12 inches in <br /> height,and fringed sage 8 inches tall. Mountain muhly, needleandthread, western <br /> wheatgrass, sleepygrass and prairie junegrass can all be found on the site at much smaller <br /> numbers. Ground cover in these areas range from 20%to 65%. <br /> 12 <br />
