Box 2107
C:rru~d Jl'StCi-ton, Colorado 81541
l~a* Bob:
Here are our corc:c>;nts on the White River Aggregates Tne. gravel pit
The only acceptable area for t'Te stripping stockpile of over burden
could lie in t]Te area that has already been mined, preferably in Test Hole
n 3 z:rea. Tne iraw whc ire the ccerYany ranted to p4't uhe stockpile is an
a_~3 of sag~rtJSh that is the only r~tla;n;nq sagebrLLSh in the area. This
sagebrush is rerrntired by the sage grouse as both food and Dauer. The draw
is w~t11i~~ one-half mile of a strutting ground. Deer also use this draw as
do many other species of wildlife. The disturbance by hlun:nsin the draw
~.rould renuve the wrildlife from the only remaining habitat in the close
proximity. Therefore, we will not accept any ott>°r alternative dump site
than in an area wheJemining has already taken place.
Our oily other concern is the reclamation of the mined land after it
has been mined. We feel that sole reclamation should be started on the
mined out areas prior to the mining of the entire pit.
I am sure that we will discuss this situation ;with the Reclamation
>~ard when T.4nite River Aggregates Tnc. applies for an exteJlsion of the
pA._rTnit afr_er the Colorado Dept. of Highways finishes with the work they
ase doing.
Sian/cerely. ~/~
~_Y~a-d- r5. ~'~
somas K.
