~ = iiiiiiiiuiiiiiiiii •
~ 999 ADEQUACY LETTER
RESPONSfi
October 17, 1997
Res File No. M-97-064, Agri-Cal ~1
From: Larry D. Oehler,
Enviromental Protection Specialist

WESTERN NUTRIENTS: LLc
O~(wb~
'~i~~lo~ .~{~j
ID
~ EXHIBIT B
~~'U
G~,C 2. This is not a live stream, it is a gully that could possibly catch
water. The affected area recieves at most during the year 11"-15"
of percipation. There is no over burden on the gypsum which covers
the entire area. Gypsum retains about (16) sixteen times its weight
inmoisture. Therefore there is little or no run-off from the affected
area. This so call stream ends up in a low area next to State Highway
115, which is dry 99;8 of the time.
EXHIBIT C MINING FLAN
[~f~ 1. The life of the permit (10) ten years.
ak
;~~Jq~ 2. It. is impossible to seperate the very small amount of topsoil from the
~f de-composed ¢ypsum. That is why all the screening and fines will be
stock piled as indicated on mining map. Then at the time reclamation
begins a percentage of the de-composed gypsum will be mixed with top-
~fJ soil (see exhibit D par C).
~~~ 3. There is no soil or rock above the gypsum deposit. The gypsum is right
on tjte surface.
~~~;~ 4.
0
~' S
~.D~.
~~~"
The gypsum is in layers, ~perp::~ll~.i+edt~~ a trench-ape mining prrsay.
The layer type configuration of the gypsum lends itself to clean mining
with out disturbing the entire affected area at one time.
The extraction will take place to the permit boundries.
The previously disturbed ax•ea consist of dozer marks or. approx. z
acre or less, which was done 20+ ,years ago and have since drown over
with weeds.
