STATE OF COLORADO
~ldu.d D. Vww. Oe•rner. .
DEPARTMENY OF NATURAL RESOURCES
DIVISION OF WILDLIFE
Jack R. Orl~b, Dlr~ctor
8080 Broadway
Denver, Colorado 80218 826-1 1 92)
February 12, 1981
Robert Freitag
Road and Bride
Park County
Re: Gravel Operations
Dear Bob s
Enclosed are the recommendations as we discussed on
February 11, 1981, during the on-site inspections. The
recommendations, if followed, should provide for minimal
impact on the fisheries resource and water quality.
Roberts Tunnel Site - A settling pond should be con-
structed at the river side of the gravel mound. As the'
hill is taken down so should the settling pond. The settling
depression should prevent direct discharge to the river from
normal runoff.
Valley. of the Sun Site - Because of the close proximity
to the M diM dle Fork of the South Platte a diversion ditch and
settling pond should be constructed. The diversion ditch
should lie between the river and the gravel operations and as
close to the gravel cut as possible. The ditch should be
designed such that it catches normal runoff and directs it
to a settling pond.
Thank you for this opportunity to comment on the operations.
Respectfully submitted,
ames M. nes
District Wildlife Manager
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, Harris Sherman, Executive Dirq~tor • ntILDLIFE COMMISSION, Vernon C.
