DA Permit No. CO 25B OXT 2 003589
Siegrist Construction Co. :,
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF AUTHORIZED WORK
In accordance with the terms and conditions of this permit, Siegrist Construction Co.
is authorized by the Secretary of the Army to place temporary and permanent fill
material in the St. Vrain Creek at mile 13.50E in conjunction with a mining operation
and a bank stabilization project located in Section 35, Township 3 North, Range 68
West, Weld County, Colorado.
The work consists of constructing a temporary low level berm, mining the sand and
gravel deposits, providing riprap bank protection to the existing bankline, restoring
the mined area to pre-project contours, and removing the temporary low level berm.
The temporary low level berm will be approximately 800 feet in length, 3 feet high,
10 feet wide at the top with 1 on 1 side slopes and will require the placement of
an estimated 1,150 cubic yards of material.
After the berm has been constructed, the area landward of the berm will be mined for
sand and gravel. Once the sand and gravel have been removed, the area will be
filled, as near as practical, to the contours which existed prior to the mining
operation, utilizing stockpiled overburden materials. At this time, the high bank
will be restored to the same height, location and configuration that existed prior
to the mining operation.
The high bank will be graded to a 2'~-foot horizontal to 1-foot vertical slope. A
12-inch sand and gravel blanket will be placed along the prepared bankline and an
18 to 24-inch riprap blanket will be placed on the sand and gravel blanket. The
riprap will be placed in a 2-foot deep keyway at the toe of the slope and will be
keyed into the bankline at the upstream end a distance of about 10 feet at a 45 '
degree angle. Approximately 600 cubic yards of either natural rock or broken
concrete will be utilized for the bank protection. If broken concrete is utilized,
it will be covered with an estimated 18 inches of soil and reestablished with vege-
tation indigenous to the area. In addition to the rock and/or broken concrete,
dead trees will be incorporated in the bank protective works. The trees will be
cabled to deadman anchors buried on shore above the ordinary high water line.
Upon completion of the bank protection, the low level berm will be removed in its
entirety.
6

i
i
~I
