<br />wetlands areas bordering the west side of County Road 179 and wesceta edge of the proposed ailaing area will <br />probably between 1700 and 2000 feet west of the county toad, depending on existing wetlands locations. <br />we understand that the proposed haul road will egress from County Raad 179 aeaz the southeast property comer <br />aztd proceed to the northwes[. T'he haul mad will cross the burled high pressure gas line approximately 250 feet <br />west of for county road, a small area of wetlands and proceed into the pit area. <br />SITE CONDITIONS <br />The projeu sire is situated along the wes[ side of Cotmry Road 179 and approximately 3/4 [Wile south of L'.S. <br />Highway 40 in Routt County, Colorado. The site is located within the Yampa River floodplain and site is <br />bordered on the north by the Yampa River and on the scud[ by Trout Creek. <br />The property is generally vacant and mostly undisturbed and currondy used far livestock grazing, with [he <br />exception of a buried high pressure natural gas transmission line and an overhead electric utility Line. The gas line <br />generally runs in a nordteast-southwest duection in the southern portion of the proposed mine area and the electric <br />line in a northweso-southeast direction through the antral portion of the proposed [nine area. Three wooden <br />utility poles auppott the electric lines in the proposed mice azea. <br />The property is located aithia the Yampa River floodplain and the vegetation typically consists o[ natural grasses, <br />weeds and sagebtvsh within the majority of the proposed mine aria. The mine area is mostly surrounded b}' <br />wetlands areas typically vegetazed with wetlands grasses, willow brash andiar mature stands of co[tonwood trees. <br />The Trout Creek drainage channel borders the sottth and southwest sides of the proposed mine area. <br />Tltc topography of a majority of the property is fatrly cotuistetu and generally slopes very gently down [o she <br />west. Localized low areas consisting of abandoned or overflow river channels form the wetlands areas which <br />generally border the [nine areas along the east, north and wesmm pit baundarus. <br />FIELD INVESTIGATION <br />The field inves[iga[ioa for this project was conducted on December 20, 2t and 22, 1994. Four (4) test pits were <br />excavated and eight (8) test holes were advanced at the approximate locations shown on Figure Jig to explore the <br />subsurface conditions within the proposed tttimng area. ft should also be noted that nine (9) test holes were <br />advanced ac the site during a previous site invcstigatlon wttducted by NVVCC, Inc. under our jab number 98-3703 <br />and dated September 28, 1998. <br />Lacattons of the test holes and pits were de[ettnined by pacing from existing structures and topographic feazures <br />shown on the site plan provided by [Sent Crofts of IME.
